So it’s a Monday night…

You’ve just dropped an album that’s set to be a classic, and you have to wake up at sparrows fart for work in the morning; what do you do?

Well if your Maundz you get drunk as fuck in the studio, throw together a sample mix of the album, and try and narrate the tracks in between slurs and belching…

What more can I say that he already hasn’t?

Jump the fuck on this shit, you’ll be kicking yourself if you don’t.

It’s been a minute (Fuck Richard Kingsmill and his team of Triple J fairy fuckhead presenters)

Sorry for the gap in posts; I’ve been a slack motherfucker over the last few, unmotivated + doing interviews and other internet shit (keep an eye peeled for two or three dropping over the next few weeks)

BUT I’m back at this very moment with an enraged mind, telling you that as I sit here, fingers to black plastic keyboard writing this, we’ve fallen victim to the gross atrocities of the ABC network, in particular Triple J.

Yes, once again, Richard Kingsmill and his super radio presenting team of knee high sock and boat shoe wearing, soft spoken, pushed fringed, ivory tower sitting, ‘I knew them before they were on the radio’ saying, fashion world FUCKUPS have decided fuck our ears with this aids infested ‘hipster hop’ act - Featuring them as their Unearthed Feature Artist

Okay, I’ll go in to a few things here:

1. We’ll start off on a (the only) good note - C1 is a dope producer, and the beat is pretty cool.
Though dressing up with a wolf mask on your head is strictly hipster territory.
Don’t get it twisted, Wolfs are fucking cool; but you’re not a wolf.
Maybe if you were like half wolf, or raised by wolves, or had over-grown toenails that looked like claws or something, then maybe it would be okay to dress as a wolf, but you don’t.
Flaunt your human-ness.

2. Right - so this Allday dude has been rocking around the scene what, one year, possibly two at the absolute most?
Dude has no concept of where hip hop came from in this country, he’d probably struggle to name two pre 2000 Australian Hip Hop releases.

He’s strictly got air play by catering to the happy, poppy 360-esq sound that Triple J spew out with nearly every ‘hip hop’ song they spin on air.
Now, that is what it is, he’s smart and knew how to get his shit air play - but when you do this, you don’t go out having a go at people who call you out on this ‘haters’ - they’re telling you the truth.
If someone doesn’t like it because it’s the same re-hashed shit that every man and his dog is putting out right now; then pull up your cotton socks and learn to deal with that shit, becasue it’s the truth and it won’t be the last time you hear it.

3. HE IS A FUCKING SHITHOUSE COMEDIAN

Now, this video tells me two things:
ONE: He’s a biter; I’ve heard the majority of those jokes a hundred times over
TWO: Dude probably jumps from scene to scene depending on what’s hot at the time - no heart in it, just doing it to get popular.

I could go on, but I’m pretty sure you’re sick and tired of hearing my jaded hate rant by now, so I’ll leave it at that.

If this is what is getting radio play, and will eventually be what influences our future hip hop artists, then it’s looking like a fucking grim future for our scene.

Jay Dee - Rebirth Of Detroit

Well this was just the best video to wake up to on a miserable, hungover-ass day like today; shit perked me right up!

Rebirth Of Detroit is a posthumous project from the late, great Jay Dilla; arguably the finest producer out of detroit, and top 5 in the game, period.
It’s set to feature the likes of Phat Kat, Guilty Simpson, Danny Brown, plus more, over 25 unreleased tracks, and unheard beats from Dilla’s vault.

“This will bring together artists that have drifted away from one another and haven’t been able to work with each other lately. It’s a healing process for the city. For individuals, it’s going to bring back the love and the passion for the music and for what hip-hop has to offer.” - MaDukes

Rebirth drops on the 12th of June 2012

Maundz - Zero: MAY 25TH

The album artwork and track/guestlist for this monster of a release dropped over the weekend, but I was too incapasitated to do a write up on it; so here it is, the belated, half assed write up on an album that deserves so much more effort from me.

Maundz’s popularity has skyrocketed in the year since his debut album ‘Mr. Nobody’ - but I’m still not sure how to classify dude.
He could still easily fit in to the ‘Underground’ catagory, but every cunt seems to know who the fuck he is, and loves what he’s doing; so thanks, thanks for fucking me up and not knowing what to write right here.

On the real though, Maundz is easily one of, if not the hardest working MC in Melbourne, possibly even Australia at the moment - and it shows.

Classical debut album with replay quality - he’s got it on lock
Live shows that are like going on safari; wild - Uh, yep, tick that too.
Guest spots on some of the dopest albums in Oz over the last few - Yezzir
Gully as fuck abusive Facebook posts - You know it; possibly my favorite thing about the man

Check the tracklisting and guest appearances, I was going to tell you how dope it is, but it really speaks for itself:

BROTHER ALI - NOT A DAY GOES BY OFFICIAL CLIP

Yeeaah boy!
Those who know me know I’m all about this man right here, and have been ever since I first heard him.

Contrary to most rappers these days, Ali just gets better and fucking better with time, and is gaining some well deserved respect at the same time.
He’s like a fine red wine, if a red wine were white and had some of the dopest 16’s you ever done HEARD!

As if Jake One didn’t already give the beat a once over with production, Ali just came through and flogged the absolute fuck out of it, leaving it lifeless, limp and broken - don’t bother calling the paramedics, it’s too late.

Watch out for Ali’s highly anticipated new album ‘Mourning in America and Dreaming in Colour’ but until that drops, feel free to cop a free download of this track right here!

K21 - REGARDLESS FT. VENTS

Another track from the kid K21’s debut album set to drop in two days motherfuckers!

The beat’s a bit different from the straight up and down boom bap and horns on the  ‘Won’t Stop’ stop single - but if you can’t jam to this, then get your hearing checked and your soul studied.

Vents comes through with that harsh voiced classic shit as usual - Fucks me how that dude would get a woman, even a compliment from that voice would have undertones of rape and domestic violence.

Be all about this shit when it drops!

FULL TOTE ODDS - WHAT’S GOING DOWN

Dope beat - check!
Nice raps - check!
Mean cuts - check!
Pissed off women in war paint and stilettos - fucking check!

The site of some of these angry women with an array of sharp and blunt objects actually turned my balls inside out.

This is the second single that the Adeliade group Full Tote Odds have dropped off of their ‘Place Your Bets’ album; Filmed by Selina Miles & Adfu.

Be sure to jump on that album as soon as it drops - it’s set to be a classic.
